Peyote stitch and bead embroidery. 15". Seed beads, cotton, fiberfill, wire, eyelash and chenille yarns, polymer clay, and mica powders.
“I have been beading for as long as I can remember and have always worked on finding ways to branch out from ordinary jewelry pieces. In recent years, I have been leaning more toward the sculptural aspect of beading. This piece started out life as cotton quilter's fabric. She is stuffed with fiberfill and a wire armature, which allows her arms to make poses. She is peyote-stitched up to the knees on both legs while her body, neck, and head are all beaded with bead embroidery stitches. I've wrapped soft eyelash yarn around her thighs and her shoulders for a bit of texture. Her face is polymer clay with mica powders, her hair was made with black chenille yarn, and two different feather trims were used to make her wings.”
