The Beaded Bag
A
Beadwork Magazine Juried Exhibition
 |
A record-high number of beaders entered this year's Beadwork juried show, The Beaded Bag. Imagine culling 61 finalists from the whopping 202 initial entries. Then consider the task of narrowing this field by about half (35)--from a group of artful bags that are all individually distinctive, beautiful, and finely crafted! From blooming pyramids, to a Yorba-inspired bag with a face, to a tiger whose whiskers tickled our fancy, this gallery of the judges' selected bags is sure to elicit oohs and ahhs--as it did when displayed at Bead Expo in Oakland, California (April 11-15, 2007). Our jurors, Dustin ("Bead Boy") Wedekind, Nancy Zellers, and Linda Carlson, chose bags they felt represented the most creative and well-crafted efforts in beading. Here we present the 35 winning bags, along with the remaining 26 finalists.
