NEW! Best of Handwoven: Doubleweave, Doublewidth! is the first in our new "technique" series. For weavers whose eyes are bigger than their looms and for all lovers of doubleweave, this electronic book is more than a collection of ten great projects from the first twenty years of Handwoven. It also includes the theory you need to design your own fabrics twice as wide as the weaving width of your loom. |

During Spinning and Weaving Week, October 5-11, 2009, the famous bronze statues in downtown Loveland, Colorado, were accessorized with a profusion of scarves woven by the Northern Colorado Weavers Guild. The Downtown Scarf project, brainchild of former Handwoven managing editor Liz Gipson, helped hundreds of people experience the comfort and fun of handmade cloth and raised more than $600 for Angel House, a program that helps homeless families with children. Check out the photo gallery to see the proud statues in their handwoven duds.

A woven treasure |
People have woven amazing fabric for thousands of years with very simple looms. Sara Lamb’s new book, Woven Treasures: One-of-a-Kind Bags with Folks Weaving Techniques, takes weavers, new and experienced on a journey of discovery, exploring these traditional techniques and sophisticated possibilities. Check out Linda Ligon’s interview with Sara to learn more about how the book came about, the projects, and the joys of walking on the simpler side of handweaving.
