May 15, 2009!
The May/June issue of Handwoven focuses on weaving
with natural fibers in honor of the United Nations'
celebration of 2009 as the International Year of Natural
Fibres. Projects will include tips on how best to
use each fiber type: silk, worsted and woolen-spun
wools, linen, hemp, cotton, flax, and even grasses
from your yard. Project types are suitable for the
yarns used and include linen and cotton towels; alpaca,
mohair, cashmere, and worsted wool scarves and shawls,
dressy silk scarves, a new Swatch collection, and
more. The Yarn of the Hour shines a spotlight on artisan
yarns-- specialty yarns produced locally and available
to handweavers.
