Interweave Favorites: Cabled Menswear Pullovers
Can you feel that? The sweet breeze of fall is here along with the changing of the leaves, and with that comes the need for a handknitted sweater. Cabled sweaters are a staple when it comes to warm, cozy knits. We’ve compiled some of our favorite men’s cable knit sweater patterns (which can all work as unisex designs) to start in time for the crisp months ahead.

These cabled pullover sweaters will ensure that you or your loved one stays nice and toasty throughout fall and winter.
Westfall Pullover
Pullovers that have a bit of a collar are always a hit. The Westfall Pullover, designed by Moira Engel, features a stunning mix of twisted cables and a shawl collar for added coziness. Knit the pullover in this perfect-for-fall honey-colored hue or a color of your own choosing.
Brilliant Cables Hooded Sweater
The Brilliant Cables Hooded Sweater by Moira Engel features a fashionable and functional hood! This sweater is sure to keep its wearer’s ears and hands warm thanks to the hood and the pouch pocket on the sweater’s front. The cable twists are reminiscent of vines and the sweater is knit up in Merino wool yarn for extra comfort and warmth.
Widener Pullover
Combining cables with other textured stitches results in a unique piece, such as in the Widener Pullover by Meghan Jones. This pullover has a shawl collar that adds a touch of formality to the casual sweater. Contrasting colored yarn and seed texture give this piece an element of fun. You’ll use varying needle sizes in order to accommodate for differing gauges in the varied stitch patterns.
Bronson Rock Pullover
Combine geometric shapes with cables to get the Bronson Rock Pullover by Meghan Jones. This sweater’s geometric cables, garter-stitch, and contrasting stockinette sleeves give it an edgy style. The mock turtleneck is a less-common neckline that is a favorite of mine. Keep the sweater bold with contrasting sleeves or use a solid color all the way through.
Nelson Pullover
Not quite a hoodie and not quite a turtleneck, the Nelson Pullover, designed by Irina Anikeeva, features a cowl neck with drawstring ties, giving it an athletic feel. This pullover sweater grabs your attention with cabled sleeves and shoulders, leading through the cowl neck that will be sure to keep you warm in the cold.
It’s finally time to break out your woolly yarns and begin expanding your collection of sweaters. The Men’s Cable Knit Sweater Collection will give you a great selection of sweaters for the upcoming cooler seasons. We hope you enjoy these knits as much as we do.
