Description
Laura Irwin’s simple felted hat is available in three sizes for men and women. This pattern is worked in the round on circular and double-point needles, and includes instructions for the optional needle-felted embellishment.
Finished Size: 20 ¼ (22 ½, 23 ¾)” head circumference, after felting, not including the bill. Cap shown measures 22 ½”.
Yarn: Valley Yarns Berkshire (85% wool, 15% alpaca; 141 yd [129 m]/100 g): #33 olive (MC), 1 (1, 2) balls; #24 light blue (CC; optional for needle-felted embellishment), 1 ball. Yarn distributed by WEBS.
Yarn weight: #4 – Medium
Gauge: 12 sts and 15 rows = 4″ in St st worked in the rnd before felting; about 13 ½ sts and 19 ½ rows = 4″ in St st worked in the rnd after felting.
Needles: Size 11 (8 mm): 16″ circular (cir) and set of 5 double-pointed (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
