Description
Sock expert Priscilla Gibson-Roberts worked these knee and crew socks from the toe up and used her favorite short-row shaping technique for the heel and toe.
Finished Size: Knee socks: About 7 ½ (8, 8 ½)” (19 [20.5, 21.5] cm) around foot and 8 ½” (21.5 cm) long from back of heel to tip of toe. Knee socks shown measure 7 ½” (19 cm) around. Crew socks: About 9 ½ (10, 10 ½)” (24 [25.5, 27] cm) around foot and 9 ½” (24 cm) long from back of heel to toe. Crew socks shown measure 9 ½” (24 cm) around.
Yarn: Knit One Crochet Too (K1C2) Frosting (75% cotton, 25% nylon; 200 yd [183 m]/50 g): #510 celadon (MC) and #559 dusty loden (CC). Knee or crew version: 2 (2, 2) balls MC, 1 ball CC. Small amount of waste yarn.
Yarn weight: #1 – Super Fine
Gauge: 16 sts and 26 rows = 2″ (5 cm) in St st worked in the rnd on smaller needles. Note: This represents the gauge measured immediately after knitting swatch; over time, the fabric may become tighter, but this will not alter the fit.
Needles: Knee and crew sock – Size 2 (2.5 mm): Set of 5 double-pointed (dpn). Knee sock only – Size 3 (3 mm): Set of 5 dpn. Adjust needle sizes if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
