Description
Inspired by the polyhedron shapes created by several bubbles joining together, Norah Gaughan created this spherical hat constructed of pentagonal and rectangular shapes. The subtle sparkle of the yarn evokes the shimmering surface of a soap bubble.
Finished Size: 19″ (48.5 cm) circumference.
Yarn: Worsted weight (Medium #4). Shown here: Berroco Flicker (87% baby alpaca, 8% acrylic, 5% other fibers; 189 yd [173 m]/50 g): #3317 benno, 2 hanks.
Yarn Weight: #4 – Medium
Needles: Size 7 (4.5 mm): 16″ (40 cm) circular (cir). Size 8 (5 mm): six double-pointed (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Marker (m); tapestry needle.
Gauge: 22 sts and 28 rows = 4″ (10 cm) in St st on larger needles.
